Directions Shopping complex
Direction tells us which way an object is located from a reference
point. It shows the object’s orientation relative to something else.
A symbol of a compass is used to show the direction on a map.
Look at it alongside.
We can see that the upper part shows ‘N’, which means the
‘north direction’, the lower part shows ‘S’, meaning the ‘south
direction’, the left part indicates ‘W’, which means the ‘west direction’ and the right
part shows ‘E’, which means the ‘east direction’. North, South, East and West are
primary directions.
Now, study the diagram given alongside.
• The direction between the north and east
is called the north-east (NE) direction.
• The direction between the north and
west is called the north-west (NW)
direction.
• The direction between the south and west
is called the south-west (SW) direction.
