1. Four friends plan a movie night and decide to split the total cost equally. They spend
`200 on movie tickets, `160 on popcorn and cold drinks, and `180 on cab fare. How
much should each friend pay to share the cost equally?
2. Ravi has only `100 and `50 notes. He needs to pay `850 using these notes. How
many `100 and `50 notes does he need to make `850? Find out the different possible
combinations.
3. Rohan buys 10 notebooks and 8 pens from City Stationers. Each notebook costs `40
and each pen costs `15. How much money should Rohan pay to the shopkeeper?
4. Sagun is planning how to spend her pocket money.
`110 for school lunch; `240 for a birthday gift; `150 for a toy
She has money in the denominations of `5, `10, `20 and `50 only.
a. She wants to give the minimum number of notes or coins for school lunch. How
can she pay?
b. She gives one `50 note, two `5 coins and the remaining in `10 notes for buying a
toy. How many `10 notes does she give?
c. She pays `20 notes for buying a birthday gift. Find the number of notes she gives.
UnItARy MEthod
If the price of 1 article is given, the price of more than one article can be found by
multiplying the price of 1 article and the number of articles for which it is to be found.
Thus, to get the price of more, we multiply.
Cost of 1 ball = `240 Cost of 5 balls = (5 × `240) = `1,200
If the price of any number of articles is given, the price of one article can be found by
dividing the total price of the articles by the number of articles.
