                Ones, thousands and lakhs are periods of the Indian place value chart.

                The face value of a digit in a number is the value of the digit itself irrespective of
                  its place in the number.

                The place value of a digit depends on its position in the number.
                A number with more digits is greater.

                If the number of digits is the same, we start comparing the digits from the left.
                To round off a number to the nearest ten, look at the digit in the ones place.

                To round off a number to the nearest hundred, look at the digit in the tens place.

                To round off a number to the nearest thousand, look at the digit in the hundreds
                  place.
