                    d. The price of a sofa set is `2,540. Find the total

cost of 195 such sofa sets.
                    e. How many hours are there in a year?

                     f. If a dairy booth sells 1258 litres of milk in a day,
how much milk will be sold in the month of December? If one litre of milk costs
`59, what will be the cost of the total amount of milk sold in December?

In early classes, you have learnt the art of splitting objects into groups. Suppose you
have plucked 21 flowers from the garden and you want to give 3 to each of your
friends, then how many of your friends will be able to get flowers?

               1 2 3 4 5 6 7 What if 21 is divided by 7?

21 split into 7 groups has 3 in each group. On splitting, we find the number of

            Hence, 21 ÷ 3 = 7. groups = 3.
                                                                      Hence, 21 ÷ 7 = 3.

Now, divide 30 star-shaped candies among 5 people.

                               1 2 3 4 5

Clearly, each person gets 6 candies.
            30 ÷ 5 = 6
Let us find 30 ÷ 6, by splitting equally into

6 groups. What do you get?
There are 5 candies in each group.

What is your observation from the above
            examples?

                           21 ÷ 7 = 3 (Here, Dividend = 21, Divisor = 7, Quotient = 3)
            3 × 7 = 21
                           21 ÷ 3 = 7 (Here, Dividend = 21, Divisor = 3, Quotient = 7)
