We have been doing the operations of addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division separately. Tips
But when these operations occur in a single sum,
they can produce different results when a
certain order is not followed. Two or more numbers connected
by one or more operation signs
                                                                             form a numerical expression.
            Let us simplify 30 – 20 ÷ 5 + 5 × 1.

            Possibility 1. Possibility 2. Possibility 3.
            30 – 20 ÷ 5 + 5 × 1 30 – 20 ÷ 5 + 5 × 1 30 – 20 ÷ 5 + 5 × 1

                   [ Subtract: 30 – 20 = 10] [ Multiply: 5 × 1 = 5] [ Divide: 20 ÷ 5 = 4]

            = 10 ÷ 5 + 5 × 1 = 30 – 20 ÷ 5 + 5 = 30 – 4 + 5 × 1
                         [Divide: 10 ÷ 5 = 2] [ Add: 5 + 5 = 10] = 30 – 4 + 5 [Multiply: 5 × 1 = 5]

            = 2 + 5 × 1 [Add: 2 + 5 = 7] = 30 – 20 ÷ 10 = 30 + 5 – 4 [Rearrange and

            = 7 × 1 = 7 [Multiply: 7 × 1 = 7] [Divide: 20 ÷ 10 = 2] Add: 30 + 5 = 35]
                                                = 30 – 2 = 28 = 35 – 4 = 31

                                                        [Subtract: 30 – 2 = 28] [Subtract: 35 – 4 = 31]

We can simplify the above expression in many more ways to get all different results.
Hence, it is very important that we follow a certain order to solve such problems correctly.

            dMAS
A numerical expression is simplified to get the answer by following the rule of DMAS.

According to this rule, we first divide then Multiply, next Add and finally Subtract. So,
            the order of operations is:

                              division ⇒ Multiplication ⇒ Addition ⇒ Subtraction
