WORKING OF A COMPUTER
Let us understand the working of a computer by following example.
Input Process Output

Numbers,
Addition Result
Instruction
Computers work on the Input-Process-Output cycle, also known as the IPO cycle.
INPUT PROCESS OUTPUT
You have seen that a computer works on the principle of Input, Process and Output.
Let us learn more about these in detail.
Input
Input is giving instructions to the computer in the form of numbers, letters or
symbols. We give input to a computer through input devices. Keyboard and mouse
are examples of input devices.
Keyboard Mouse
Process
After receiving the input, the computer performs
action on it with the help of the Central
Processing Unit (CPU). It is known as the brain
of the computer. It performs all the calculations.
Output CPU/Cabinet box CPU
Output is the result that we get after processing.
We get output on output devices. Monitor and
printer are examples of output devices.
Now, we know that a computer is an electronic
machine that takes the input, processes the
input and gives us the output.
