                 Customised Software

Customised software is designed to meet the requirements of a client according to their business needs. For example,
the software may be developed to analyse the data of a company, keeping in mind specific goals of the company.
Software companies also develop software keeping in mind the general requirements of industry and customise it to
a client's specific requirements. Examples of software in this category are school management, accounting, inventory
control, library management, patient management, and software for online reservations for hotels, airlines, and
                 railways.

                      Let's Summarise

Ø Central processing unit is the brain of any computer system.
Ø There are three basic components in the CPU—Arithmetic Logic Unit, Control Unit and Register.

Ø Registers are small data holding areas within CPU that hold data, instructions and memory address during
                      the processing.

Ø The Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) of the CPU performs all arithmetic (+,-,*,/) and logical (>,<,>=,<=,<>)
                      operations.

Ø The Control Unit (CU) controls the execution of instructions and the flow of data amongst the components of
a computer, i.e., from input devices to memory, memory to ALU and vice versa, and from memory to output
                      devices.

Ø A microprocessor is a CPU on a single chip. It is built as an integrated circuit (IC), possibly comprising millions
                      of circuits.

Ø An input device takes input from a user in the form of data or instructions. Some of the commonly used input
devices are Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Light Pen, Optical Mark Reader (OMR), etc.
Ø The output devices receive data from a computer and deliver the desired output on a suitable device for a
user. Some of the commonly used output devices are Monitor, Printer, Plotters, etc.
Ø A computer system's memory unit (also called a storage unit) is used to store data and instructions.
