                 Operating System is one of the most important software as without this software,
                 we cannot use our computer at all. In this chapter, we will learn about the most
                 commonly used GUI-based operating system, Windows 7. Some other Operating
                 Systems are Linux, Unix, MacOS and MS DOS.

                     WINDOWS 7

                 Windows 7 operating system has been created by the largest software development
                 company named Microsoft. Features of Windows 7 are given below:

                     Windows 7 has a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that means you do not need
                    to remember all the commands.
                    As it is a GUI, most of the work is done by using a mouse.

                    It allows you to run several programs at the same time.

                    April 4, 1975.



                     DESKTOP


                 When you switch ON the computer, the operating system stored in your computer
                 starts loading itself. After sometime, the screen appears which is called the desktop.
                 In other words, desktop is the first screen that appears from where you can start
                 working.
