DESKTOP AND ICONS
When our computer gets completely started, Icons
we see a screen with a lot of small pictures. This
screen is called the desktop. Once the desktop
appears, we can start using the keyboard and
mouse. The small pictures with their names on
the desktop are called icons. On the lower left Start button
corner of the desktop, there is a Start button.
When we click on the Start button or press the Windows key on the keyboard, a
menu with a list of apps (computer programs) opens up. This menu is the Start menu.
Scroll using the mouse or use Arrow keys to move up and down in the Start menu.
Click, right-click or double-click on any icon to perform different actions.
KEYBOARD AND MOUSE IN A LAPTOP
A laptop also has a keyboard and mouse
fixed on it. The keys on a laptop keyboard Keyboard
are arranged closely and in a different
way than they are on a desktop keyboard Touchpad
but they work in the same way.
Right button
A laptop has a touchpad, also called a
trackpad, that is a touch-sensitive pad. Left button
Using a touchpad, we can control the mouse pointer by our finger. Just above or below
the touchpad may be two buttons: left and right mouse buttons.
To click, press the left button with a finger. To right-click, press the
right button with a finger.
To double-click, press the left button twice quickly.
To drag, hold down the left button with one finger and drag the
touchpad with another finger.
To scroll, place two fingers side-by-side on the touchpad and gently
move them up and down on the touchpad surface.
